Maintenance Technician- Chattanooga Zoo

Description:
The Chattanooga Zoo is looking for an exceptional Facilities Technician to add to the zoo's Facilities Department. The ideal candidate for this position will be someone who excels at problem solving, has experience working with multiple tools in different settings, and someone who works well both independently and with a team while taking direction from their supervisor. Normal duties will include day to day building and exhibit maintenance, troubleshooting maintenance issues, and fulfilling worker orders. Candidate must be able to work well with visitors and interact with the public on a frequent basis. This position will require working on weekends and holidays as the schedule necessitates. Candidate must be able to do the following: Use basic carpentry techniques Cut, shape, fit or join wood or other construction materials Measure and mark reference points or cutting lines on workpeices Build and repair wooden framework or structures Use basic hand and power tools (including woodworking tools) Use basic plumbing techniques Assemble and install pipe sections, fittings, or plumbing fixtures Use basic building materials for routine maintenance Use basic surface painting skills for all types of surfaces Basic knowledge of painting products Candidate should have a high school diploma or GED. The candidate must be able to lift, bend, and twist 50 lbs regularly. This position requires standing and walking around the zoo for the entirety of the day. The Chattanooga Zoo is a member of the Tennessee Drug Free Workplace program, a pre-employment drug test and a background check will be performed.
