We are building a world-class platform for impact investment funds, both home-grown and funds brought to the platform by members of our community or impact partners. Role We are seeking a highly motivated individual who would thrive in a dynamic environment working to help us develop, manage, measure, and communicate progress across our business in generating impact at scale, while concurrently shaping the consensus understanding of how to successfully integrate impact into each of our investment strategies and products. This is an opportunity for a professional to realize their ambition and leadership skills within the private equity sector and help establish Conduit Capital as a recognized thought leader in the field of impact management, measurement, and delivery. The Director of Impact will play two crucial roles in the organization: • Developing and implementing our impact strategy and framework at the corporate level; and • Designing and developing the impact management framework for each of our investment strategies and products. She or he will be a core part of our organization, implementing our theory of change from top to bottom, ensuring our achievement of impact is embedded into everything we do. This will entail defining an over-arching impact framework for the company that: supports our theory of change, helps us evaluate potential investment products from an impact perspective, provides appropriate consistency across our diverse investment products and strategies, and enables reporting to our investors on the impact we are achieving as a platform. She or he will also lead the creation, in close collaboration with the investment team, of the impact management framework for each of our individual investment products or strategies, acting as a subject matter expert on impact, and identifying the resources, internal or external, required to design, implement and manage the framework. She or he will also have an opportunity to advise the investees of our strategies (fund managers and/or companies) in the achievement of their own impact. Through these various touchpoints, the Director of Impact can build a platform to pioneer a point of view around the frameworks, tools, and best practices that funders and investment organizations can use to better integrate impact into their investment processes. The Director of Impact will have deep knowledge and experience in impact and ESG strategy, management, and reporting, preferably in a private equity context. She or he will be responsible for the development, collection, measurement, analysis, and reporting of our impact data in line with industry standards and frameworks, as well as keeping abreast with industry practices and developments. The Director of Impact will also have strong communication skills and be inspired by the opportunity to influence the impact investing sector through everything we learn about measuring and managing impact. This individual will also have a natural interest in finance, and an understanding of different asset classes which will inform their expertise in how impact frameworks should be adapted accordingly. Qualified candidates must have leadership capabilities and be able to work in a team-oriented and fast paced environment. Successful candidates will thrive with new challenges and be comfortable moving initiatives forward with minimal supervision. The position will be based in London, sit in the investments team and report to the Chief Investment Officer. Remote working is possible, but significant time in London will be expected. Responsibilities • Create and optimize the over-arching impact strategy and framework for CCAP to: support our mission, vision and theory of change; help us evaluate potential investment products from an impact perspective; provide appropriate consistency across our diverse investment products and strategies; and enable reporting to our investors on the impact we are achieving as a platform • Work with the investment teams on defining and developing the individual frameworks for each of our investment strategies, including the impact thesis and goals for the product; the process for integrating impact into investment decision making; the systems and processes to manage and to measure impact through on-going monitoring; and the partnerships and processes to assure impact and report results to the product’s investors. • Determine appropriate resourcing model for both the creation and execution of the impact frameworks for each of our investment strategies, partnering with third-party technical experts when necessary • Empower and influence the investees of our strategies and products to advance their impact management frameworks, including the provision of technical guidance and support, through coaching and sharing of best practice • Establish a ‘center of excellence’ of impact within CCAP, continuing to advise, consult and oversee individual impact frameworks and associated impact teams for each of our products, ensuring all products align and contribute to CCAP’s overarching impact strategy • Manage, coordinate, and execute the collection of impact data from our investment strategies, providing support for timely, accurate, and consistent reporting for CCAP • Execute the data analysis and interpretation, and write our impact reports at the corporate level in alignment with industry standards and frameworks, with the ability to turn impact data into meaningful stories for the organization and our investors • Manage our relationships with external partners to support our impact practice • Maintain an understanding of international best practice on impact management to ensure that our approach, policies and procedures remain best-in-class • Share impact performance insights with investor relations colleagues • Provide expert guidance and impact training for management, investment, and investor relations teams to enable deeper impact integration and into investment thinking and processes. Experience/Qualifications • Minimum 10 years’ experience of impact and/or ESG strategy development and implementation, preferably in private equity. Experience in a sustainable investing context strongly preferred. • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a related discipline • Knowledge and understanding of key frameworks and metrics in impact measurement methodologies • Strong analytical and methodological skills, with the ability to identify “right-fit” methods and think in a commercial, creative and pragmatic way • Entrepreneurial nature and thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast paced environment. Ability to produce work and over time be able to manage in a cross functional, matrixed organization • Excellent communication and writing skills, with a keen ability to synthesize and present complex data in a simple, compelling, meaningful way (ability to produce beautiful and top-notch data visualization is a plus) • Ability to engage with fund managers, portfolio companies and institutional LP clients • Demonstrated capability for independent judgment is critical; ability to independently plan, organize and prioritize work • Proven team player and demonstrated capability of mentoring junior staff; builds working partnerships and promotes collaboration in the workplace • Ability to perform in a start-up environment with a problem-solving and solutions-oriented mindset. Takes ownership for outcomes, a self-starter, and is personally accountable for results • Ability to travel as needed, with significant time spent in London if not permanently based there • Possess a genuine curiosity about Conduit Capital’s business and are keen to understand the progress and drivers behind each of the business units and operational functions • Demonstrated commitment to impact investing and the values of Conduit Capital Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
